Setting Up RocketDock

In the previous post and video, “New Solution For Desktop Clutter,” I introduced you to a program called RocketDock, and showed you how to get it for free.

In this video, part 2 of 3, I’ll show you how to adjust the settings to your tastes. In the process, I realized and pointed out how RocketDock could be of help to the many, many Internet users who are sight-impared. I have a vision impairment myself, and RocketDock has helped me quite a bit.

Anyway, please watch the video (I hope it’s of help to you), and let me know what you think.

New Solution For Desktop Clutter

I discovered a new solution for desktop clutter. Well, it’s new to me, though apparently thousands of people have known about it for a long time. It’s called RocketDock, and it’s actually based on the Apple/Mac dock, but designed for Windows.

It’s really a cool little program, and I’ve found it indispensible already. I’ve made three videos, the forst of which is below illustrating a little of what it it, and how to get it. It’s a free prgram, in case you were wondering.

I’ll post the two other videos shortly. The second video demonstrates how to get the settings to your liking, and the third shows how to add and delete items. I did it in three parts because doing it in one video ran just way too long.

Best Free Disk Defragmenter

I’m a big fan of a disk defragmentation program called Diskeeper. It’s the best out there, bar none. There’s a video farther down this blog demonstrating it.

But I’m also a big fan of helping my readers get the job done without emptying their wallets, so I’ve come up with a version of Diskeeper that is available for no cost. It’s not a “trial version,” but an actual no cost version that, to the best of my knowledge, doesn’t expire.

Watch the video and see if it’s for you. If so, the link to download it is under the video.

Taskbar Tricks #2

Here is another video in my short series on things you can do with your taskbar.

Alot of people don’t realize that there are a lot of things you can do with your Windows desktop that are more than simple decoration. You can add utility and simplicity with just a few minor alterations. You can increase speed and productivity, and make life a little less complicated.

Downloading YouTube Videos

Now you can download videos from YouTube to your PC for viewing offline.

Perhaps this doesn’t sound like anything revolutionary, but for many, a simple and free way to do it has been elusive. This is especially true since YouTube not long ago changed their URL and Embed coding.

About two weeks ago, I downloaded a program that cost $30 to do the job. It worked, and worked well. But just today, I found a program that works just as well, and it doesn’t cost a dime. I downloaded it, tried it a few times, and decided I had to tell you about it if you hadn’t already heard of it.

It’s called YouTube Downloader, and I’ve prepared a quick video to show you how it works. Below the video is the link to the download.

I have to be honest here: The $30 software I bought has an affiliate program, and that is the software I was going to promote. But, in all fairness to you, the readers of this blog, I decided not to do it. The reason is simple. There are a LOT of programs out there that cost money, and they do their jobs very well. In some cases, “free” substitutes don’t give you all the features and advantages. In those cases, I always suggest and recommend the better program, even if it costs money.

But sometimes, you get everything you need without having to “whip out your wallet,” and this is one of those cases.
